“To strive, to seek, to find, and yes, to yield”
My title adapts the last line of Tennyson’s
“Ulysses”; I’ll discuss that poem briefly
as an example of potentially fruitless
endless searching, with other poems
on faith and form. Q&A following.
The talk is part of Immanuel’s series, Questioning Christianity,
offered by the wonderful pastor Micah Jelinek.
Free and open to all, believers and skeptics alike
who want to pursue questions of faith.

“‘What Are You, Banded One?’: Poems of Wonder, and a Generative Writing Workshop. We will read a few poems that seek out wonderment as doors to both perception and blessing. Then, given a prompt, we’ll write together into wonder.”
The Scarab Club, just down the block from the DIA, is one of Detroit’s most iconic gems, founded and built by artists in the 1920s. There’s a smalI parking next to the building, and then street parking if the lot is full. The event is hosted by Detroit CRU, a a multi-ethnic Christian campus ministry working with many universities in southeast Detroit.
